Picked the speakers up today. It's now obvious the cabinets are homebuilt. I thought they might have been factory built and aimed at the educational market like some other speakers I have. I tried shining a flash light though the grill cloth, but I couldn't see enough to make any kind of identification. The boxes are glued completely shut, so after I listen to them, I''ll likely cut the grill cloth and see what I can see from the front, then cut the backs off.

Sorry, I'm being so slow guys. I didn't mean to drag it out this long.
I hooked up one speaker last night, and listened to the Last of the Mohicans soundtrack. The other channel remained an AlNiCo Jensen Triette. The little 8" sounded horrible by itself. I still have a bit of hope, however........ the box is a poorly built homebuild that probably was not designed with acoustics in mind.
I cut the grill cloth from both cabinets. One speaker was fairly clean, the other is covered in hair, or fur, and looks like it might be glued in place due to careless application.
Today, I cut the other cabinet open. The drivers are AlNiCo and made by Carbonneau.
Assuming I can get the other driver out, I wouldn't mind trying them in an open baffle.
I'll post pictures later on tonight.

You should see the open baffles I came up with the other day. kinda funky but boy do they sound good!!!. I was trying to dabble with a little Karlson action but in an open baffle design. It didn't work out but what transpired sure did. very happy with what I ended up with.

Looks great, cradeldorf, I like the "deco look"! Those 4" banana cones have quite the range on them. You using subs with them to round out the bottom?

Thanks Alien, Yes 1 Dayton 12" sub (the cheapo $120 one) to fill the bottom out. Greg, sorry they don't come through good on your system.I shot a jazz vid too and posted it up tonight.

Well, 787 = Sonotone [phono cartridges] & 719 = Carbonneau [?], so not sure what's what.

They look WAF acceptable, but I'll have to take your word for it that they sound good since between my crappy little computer 2.1 system, ~13 yr old basic sound card and YouTube quality they are so distorted they seem only good enough to be used for skeet practice.
Yeah, such a tool deal! If any this good exist in my locale, the illegal aliens swap them among themselves.
I'm curious, why is your screen picture so 'stretched' looking?

Loud is Beautiful if it's Clean! As always though, the usual disclaimers apply to this post's contents.
Almost certain they are Carbonneau.
Your neighbors called. They like your music.
